The Del Norte High varsity volleyball team went 3-5 at a tournament in Red Bluff on Friday and Saturday. After going 2-1 and finishing second in their pool on Friday, the Warriors went 1-4 on Saturday to go to 7-6 for the season. In two of the games on Saturday, Del Norte won the first game, but lost the next two of each contest. Against Pleasant Valley, the Warriors won 25-20 and lost 22-25, 12-15. Against Shasta, the score was 25-23, 13-25 and 8-15. The Warriors defeated Forest Lake 25-9 and 25-21. Del Norte fell to Red Bluff 8-25 and 22-25 and West Valley 20-25, 17-25. Head coach Meagan Curtis said the team seemed to have trouble putting together a complete game – doing well passing, but not doing well hitting in one game, and in the next game hitting well, but not being consistent with their passing. On Wednesday, the varsity and junior varsity teams were supposed to play at Gold Beach, Ore., but because referees could not be found for the match, it has been moved to Oct. 18. The Warrior varsity girls next play at a tournament in Carmichael on Saturday.
