Jack L. Harrah, 77, was born in Fresno on Aug. 21, 1930. He died at his home in McMinnville, Ore. on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007.

Son of Arthur E. and Emma Rickel Harrah, he grew up in Fresno. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving four years in the Navy and two years in the Army. He married Elizabeth Wright on June 18, 1965.

He was a retired long-haul truck driver and loved NASCAR racing, working in his garden, taking care of his fish pond and gathering cackleberries. He moved to McMinnville in February 2005.

The family said he was a loving, devoted father, grandfather and uncle, and he was very much beloved by his family and all who knew him. His generous, gentle heart will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Hammerstrum and his brother Joseph Harrah. He also leaves behind his loving companion Paddy Boy.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Harrah of McMinnville, Ore.; his sons, Paul Harrah of Medford, Ore., and Robert Harrah of Shingletown; his daughter, Carla Harrah-Galbraith of McMinnville, Ore.; and his brother, Kenneth Harrah of Crescent City.

He had nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association c/o Macy and Son. At his request there will be no public service.
