Nazare "Avo Velhinha" Borges, 92, was born in Lajes Terceira, Acores on January 24, 1915. She moved to the United States in 1969 and became an American citizen in 1999 at the age of 84.

Avo is looking down on us and smiling that we are all rejoicing in her memory. Avo lived a very fulfilling and rewarding life, getting the chance to see all of her grandchildren get married, something most people do not get the opportunity to experience. She always had a smile on her face and a warm place in her heart for anyone that she came in contact with.

Nazare Borges now rests with her late husband, Manuel G. Borges. What a sight it must be to see them rejoined together in heaven.

She is survived by her grandchildren, their spouses and great-grandchildren, Dan and Jaime Estrela, their children Jaidan and Landon, Chris and Christin Estrela, Ricky and Jennifer Borges and their child, Evan; Steve and Rosa Borges and their child, Mason; Vicky and Lonnie Harrison and their child Hailee; Ana and Billy Hartwick and their children Bailey and Justin, Paula and Frank Magarino and their children Juliane and Simone; Jason and Diana Borges and their child Carlo; and Joey and Maria Borges and their children Reyna and Benjamin.

She was preceeded in death by her husband Manuel G. Borges, her parents, Francisco Ferreria Alves and Maria Luz Alves.
