Tip hotline for reporting suspicious activity

August 23, 2007 11:00 pm

The Crescent City Police Department installed a new tip hotline that will allow citizens the opportunity to report suspicious activity.

According to a press release from the department, the hotline can be used to alert police about "suspected drug dealings, abused or neglected children, domestic violence, wanted individuals or any other suspicious activity." The information gathered from the hotline will then be provided to the appropriate investigative agency.

The hotline will be set up like an answering service, with no one manning the phone lines. Tips can be anonymous, or callers can leave their names and contact information if they please.

People can call the police department's "Crime Tip Hotline" at 707-218-4229.
