Letters: Police officers should becommended for their restraint

August 07, 2007 11:00 pm

I would like to commend the officers of Crescent City for their remarkable restraint in handling Brian Strom.

Any time a person refuses or fails to comply with a police officer's order and exhibits a threat to those officers, he deserves what he gets.

It would be interesting to know what crimes of violence Brian Strom has been accused of in the past. You can be sure that the arrest of July 21 is not his first run-in with the law.

I am a retired law enforcement officer, with more than 30 years of experience. I do not know any of the officers involved. I do know they have a tough job.

I do not believe what Lenda Beck states in her letter to the editor on Aug. 2. The officers in this community are fine upstanding people. They deserve your respect.
