Outdoor programs held today and Friday

Redwood National and State Parks has scheduled outdoor programs for today and Friday.

Junior rangers can take part in "Seeds and Sprouts" at 10 a.m. today at the Prairie Creek Visitor Center.

Nature walks include "Brown Bag at Big Tree" at 1:30 p.m. at the Big Tree parking area. "Old Growth Forests: What are they and why are they important?" starts at 2 p.m. at Lady Bird Johnson Grove. "Wanted: Dead or Alive" also starts at 2 p.m. at Simpson-Reed Grove.

Today's campfire program is "Measuring Marvelous Marine Mammals" at 8:30 p.m. at Elk Prairie campground.

On Friday, junior rangers can take part in "On Top of a Nurse Log" at 10 a.m. at Prairie Creek Visitor Center.

At 3 p.m., "Water Wonders" will take place at Mill Creek Campground and "Are We Bear Yet?" will start at Jedediah Smith Campground.

Nature walks include "Seeds and Sprouts" at 2 p.m. at the Lady Bird Johnson trail and the pet-friendly "Canines, Canopies and Cal Barrel" at Cal Barrel Road.

Campfire programs at 8:30 p.m. include "Birds of a Feather" at Elk Prairie Campground, "Wonders of the Watershed" at Mill Creek Campground and "The Bear Necessities" at Jedediah Smith Campground.
