Man who led police chase sentenced

A 24-year-old Crescent City man with a penchant for leading law enforcement on high-speed chases was sentenced Thursday in Del Norte County Superior Court.

Donald K. Webb Jr. will serve three years in state prison after he pleaded guilty to a felony count of eluding a peace officer. He also was indicted by a Douglas County, Ore., grand jury on similar charges.

In March, Webb was arrested a day after he eluded local law enforcement during a high-speed chase through and around the streets of Crescent City.

At that time, Oregon State Police wanted Webb for questioning about a New Year's Day incident in which he allegedly eluded police and rammed a stolen vehicle into an Oregon State Police patrol car.

Some of the charges Webb will face in Oregon, when extradited, include attempted assault, criminal mischief and reckless driving.
