CASA Tennis Tournament

Nearly $2,000 was raised for the local branch of the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) at the CASA Tennis Tournament, also known as the  ‘CASA Goes to the Courts for Kids' event. The tournament was held on June 2 at the tennis courts at Del Norte High School. There were three categories; men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. In men's doubles action, Michael Zinng and Max Sweeney defeated David Thompson and Tien Ngen in the finals 6-4, 3-6, and 6-4 to win the men's doubles crown. In women's doubles, Mimi Stevens and Carolyn Westbrook defeated the mother/daughter team of Kara and Sara Miller in an 8-5 pro set win to take the title. This was the second straight year that Stephens was part of a winning team. This is the 8th year of the CASA tennis tournament here in Crescent City. In mixed doubles, Rachel Prather and Andrew Hooper gained first place with a 6-0, 2-6 and 3-6 win over Dale Watson and Sandy Moreno.
