Obituary: Richard Morris MacAdam (1943-2007)

Richard Morris MacAdam, 64, died May 16 in Medford, Ore.

He was born to Harold and Ruth (Moore) MacAdam Jan. 31, 1943 in Pittsburg, Ore.

He was a four-year resident of Del Norte County, making his home in Gasquet.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Gasquet Volunteer Fire Department, where he received the Firefighter of the Year Award in 2005.

He was very proud of being a certified Emergency Medical Technician for the fire department.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 29 years by K-Mart as an operations manager in the Sacramento area.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Charlotte MacAdam of Gasquet; his children, Jerry Hoff of Gasquet; Elizabeth Lamb of Sacramento; and Quinton MacAdam of Chicago, Ill.

He is also survived by his mother, Ruth MacAdam of Gasquet; his brother, Douglas MacAdam of Shippingburg, Penn; and his grandchildren Grayce Lamb, and David and Daniel Hoff, all of Sacramento.

The family requests contributions be made to the Gasquet Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 85, Gasquet, Calif., 95543.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Gasquet Volunteer Fire Station on Gasquet Flat Road.

Private inurnement will be at Del Norte County Veterans' Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
