Volunteers needed to clean Rogue River

Bureau of Land Management is seeking volunteers to help clean up the Rogue National Wild and Scenic River to show up at 9 a.m. May 19.

The Rogue River Program is in its 15th year, and outdoor recreation planner Cori Cooper said it has been "a huge success."

More than 180 people help remove 4-5 tons of material from the riverbanks each year.

Registration is at the Hog Creek Boat Ramp, about five miles west of Merlin, Ore.

Volunteers are asked to dress for the weather and are encouraged o bring gloves, snacks and drinking water.
