Volunteers needed for visitor season

May 08, 2007 12:00 am

As the visitor season in Del Norte County shifts into high gear, the need for volunteers keeps pace. Among the agencies that have a greatly increased need for volunteers during the summer is the Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber is looking for volunteers to assist visitors by providing information about Del Norte County. This involves answering questions that might include places to stay, where to find agates, and where to rent kayaks or wet suits.

For those who prefer a quieter, behind-the-scenes sort of task, the chamber provides plenty of those as well. There's filing to be done and visitor packets to be prepared.

Friendly staff are always on site to help, training is provided, and volunteers receive a 30 percent discount on merchandise. Contact Judy Baker at 464-3174.

For other volunteer opportunities, contact Inez Castor at the Volunteer Center of the Redwoods and RSVP, 464-7876 ext. 136.
