California State Assemblywoman Patty Berg has received the 2007 Assembly Leadership Award from Easter Seals at a recent awards dinner.

"This is a great honor for me," Berg said. "I support and respect the work of the Easter Seals organization, I believe their work, just like my work, is a labor of love."

Berg's work on aging and long-term care issues led to the award. She has worked to create better services for California's aging and disabled populations.

Last year, she created the first master plan on aging baby boomers to help California prepare for a dramatic shift brought on by the impending retirement of the baby boom generation.
