The number five seems to really like the Del Norte High boys golf team this season.

In all the matches the squad has participated in this year, the Warriors have earned a fifth place finish.

On Tuesday at the Beau Pre Golf Course in McKinleyville, the team earned another fifth place finish.

Head coach Kirk Burrows said conditions were not the most ideal for the game of golf, but the team persevered. The winds were a gusty 30 - 40 miles per hour with ocasional showers, he said.

The top scores posted by the Warriors were by Trevor Johnson and Kevin Janerio, who each had a score of 89.

Cole Leslie shot a 92, while Nyke Newton had a 93, Ryan Dorosz shot a 96 and Chris Davidson had a 98.

The team next plays on April 2 at the Baywood Golf Country Club in Arcata.
