Expect traffic delays on several regional roads

Local drivers could find themselves facing travel delays as Caltrans is working in the following areas through Thursday.

Those , by county, include:

•Del Norte County – U.S. Hwy. 101, where crews continue their work to widen Gilbert Creek Bridge. Crews will work 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and one-way traffic control will be in effect. Expect 15-minute delays.

•Humboldt County – Hwy. 101, where crews are repairing a sink hole about 2 miles north of Redcrest. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction 24/7. Minor traffic slowdowns are possible.

Hwy. 101, where replacement of the southbound Van Duzen River Bridge continues 7 a.m.-7 p.m., weekdays. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction 24/7. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.

Hwy. 101 where a median project from Drake Hill Road to 12th Street continues between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction of travel 24/7, and motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.

State Hwy. 96 from 0.8 miles to 1.3 miles east of Slate Creek. Crews will work on a 24/7 basis, and one-way traffic control will be in effect with periods of full closure due to falling rocks. Anticipate delays.

•Mendocino County – State Hwy. 1, where a Point Arena resident is paving a driveway between Iverson Avenue and Port Road. Work hours are 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Expect 5-minute delays.

Hwy. 1, where the Elk County Water District is upgrading a water line from the Greenwood Creek Bridge to the north limits of Elk. Work hours are 7 a.m.-4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect, and motorists should anticipate 5-minute delays.
