Drive times delayed due to weather, road construction in Humboldt, border counties

Inclement weather has left several major roads impassable or dangerous to drive in the region.

In addition, road construction is underway on several other highways.

Among the affected roads, by county:

•Curry County – U.S. Hwy. 101 from milepost 352.28-357.87, minor work but some single-lane closures in Brook-ings. Also, Hwy. 101 from milepost 358.81-361.54, culvert repairs on seven culverts in Brookings. Expect one-lane restrictions.

•Humboldt County – State Hwy. 299 is open to one-way traffic, but motorists should anticipate 20-minute delays. Be advised that road conditions can change at any time.

•Josephine County, Ore. – Interstate 5 signing project at milepost 58-82 on Interstate 5 and Hwy. 199 East and West Fork Bridge replacements.

•Jackson County, Ore. – South Medford Interchange Exit 27 work and North Medford Interchange Exit 30 work on Interstate 5, and Exit 35 Seven Oaks Interchange and CORP bridges projects also on Interstate 5. Utility work on State Hwy. 62 between Eagle Point and Shady Cove at milepost 9-19.

•Coos County – State Hwy. 42 at North Fork Coquille River-Guerin Land and Myrtle Point lane closures. Also, U.S. Hwy. 101 Coos Bay Signal rebuilds at milepost 238.96. Any work requiring lane closures will be done at night. Hwy. 540 at milepost 0.11, a signal rebuild at North Bend. Work requiring lane closures will be done at night. State Hwy. 42 at milepost 0-5.21, tree removal; expect delays of less than 10 minutes.

•Douglas County, Ore. – I-5 from milepost 125-139, cleanup and striping.; expect occasional lane closures I-5 from milepost 113-120, bridge replacements along 68 miles of the road; expect detours around work sites and occasional lane closures with minimal delays; I-5 at milepost 117.7. Traffic is using the southbound bridge, but northbound traffic is using a two-lane detour with occasional single-lane closures during work hours. I-5 at Exit 99, interchange improvements and bridge replacements ar detouring southbound traffic to the northbound lanes from milepost 99.2-98.4; look for increased flagging operations and work along frontage roads and note that minor delays are expected.
