The season is officially over for the Del Norte High boy's basketball team.

When the teams for the Northcoast Section playoffs were announced on Sunday, the Warriors were not on the list.

While the Warriors finished second in the Big 5 Conference this year, the team faltered at the end of the season and lost in its first game of the Dick Niclai tournament, 49-38 to Arcata at home on Feb. 13.

After the game, head coach Blaine Lopez said he did not believe his team would make it to the section playoffs this year. He felt that a number of teams in the section had a stronger strength of schedule and record compared to the Warriors.

Del Norte finished the regular season 15-10 and had a 5-3 record in Big 5 play.

Three teams from the Big 5 made the playoffs.

Conference champion Eureka, the winner of the Dick Niclai tournament, received a No. 3 seed in the Division II bracket and earned a bye. The Loggers will face the winner of the Las Lomas, Casa Grande game at home on Friday.

Arcata, which is a No. 10 seed in the Division IV bracket, is at John F. Kennedy on Wednesday. Fortuna received a No. 12 seed in the same division and faces Justin-Siena on Wednesday.

St. Bernard's, the Little 4 Conference champ, received a No. 5 seed in the Division V bracket and hosts a home game against Calistoga on Wednesday.
