The Del Norte Warriors' wrestling team finished ninth overall at the 24th annual Battle of the Border wrestling tournament held at Del Norte High School on Saturday.

With the football team still playing deep into the season, the Warriors were missing some of their big guys on Saturday.

Although the Warriors were without most of their heavyweights, it was the smallest guy on the team that led the Warriors.

Andrew Walker, who was the number one seed at the 103-pound weight class, pinned all three of his oppenents on the day to take home the championship.

After a first round bye, Walker pinned Josh Storbeck of Marshfield in a lightening-quick 20 seconds – the second fastest pin on the day.

In the semifinals, Walker pinned Aaron Greed of Arcata in 2:39.

And in the championship match, Walker pinned Chris Culver of Illinois Valley in 1:06.

Walker qiuckly took down Culver with a fireman's carry and pinned him with a head-and-arm midway through the first period.

The other Warrior to make it to the championship match was Joe Kravitz at 145 pounds.

Kravitz faced top-seeded Jerrad Miller in the championship, but was unable to score a point in his 7-0 loss.

After a first round pin, Kravitz won two close decisions in the next two rounds.

In round two, he had a 4-2 victory over Joey Marroletti of North Medford and in the semifinals, he pulled out a 5-3 decision over Cody Miller of Brookings-Harbor.

Grant Ivison, at the 112-pound weight class, ended the day with a third place finish. In the third place match, Ivison defeated Shawn Barton of Grants Pass with a 14-6 majority decision. His only loss of the day was to second-seeded Dusty Culver of Illinois Valley in the semifinals.

Other Warriors who placed on the day were Josh Lacey, who finished tied for fifth in the 125-pound weight class, and Kai Lemrise, who took sixth at 160 pounds.
