A new slate of issues will be addressed at the meeting of harbor commissioners Wednesday night.

At the top of the agenda will be whether or not to increase the labor rates for use of the public hoist.

Board president Bonnie Williams said the hoist currently provides a small amount of revenue for the district and she questioned its availability during off-seasons.

My own feeling is that we make sure the hoist is available for the fishermen to use, said Williams. Were thinking that maybe it should remain open.

Other topics to be addressed are a possible extension of the Del Norte Ice Plant lease, two actions relating to contributing funds to tourism publications, and considerations of hiring a new legal counsel for the district.

A decision to retain the law firm of Cochran and McElfresh was arrived at last July when former attorney Bill Follett was elected as a municipal court judge. This issue was to be revisited in 2001.

The new commissioners havent had a chance to interview legal counsels, said Williams. When we made the decision last year there was a little problem with procedure. So it was decided to just hold it over for the next board because thats who would be working with them.

The meeting of the Board of Harbor Commissioners will be held Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at 101 Citizens Dock Road.
