Don't most communities have just a single chamber?

I read in May 31's paper that a group is forming another chamber of commerce ("Local Hispanic Chamber formed"). I came from a city, Thousand Oaks, that has one chamber for the city's chamber duties. I believe that most cities in California have a single chamber of commerce. Therefore, as a "newcomer," I read this as the Crescent City Chamber of Commerce is not doing its job.

Rumiano's should be allowed to go up - and then move back

Rumiano's should be allowed to build up on their building ("City: Allow Rumiano's to go up," May 30). I only wish they would move back to their old store location.

Patricia Hughes instrumental in organizing Trike-A-Thon

About two weeks ago I submitted an article about the Trike-A-Thon that the pre-school at Joe Hamilton held to benefit St. Jude's Research Hospital ("Students hold Trike-A-Thon for children," May 21). My name was mentioned in the article, but all I did was submit the picture and article.

Patricia Hughes, the head teacher, contacted St. Jude's Hospital and was instrumental in putting the event together. She worked very hard getting things all co-ordinatedso that the children could do this event.

I just want to make sure that she gets the credit that is due her.She loves her kids and works very hard to create a curriculum that the children can enjoy. It is a privilege to work with her and to learn from her.
