Obituary: Michael Gene McLennan (1950-2008)

Michael Gene McLennan

Michael Gene McLennan was born Feb. 12, 1950, in Forks, Wash. He passed away with his family by his side Dec. 17, 2008. Michael grew up in Smith River and served his country for more than 30 years in the U.S. Navy as boatswain’s mate senior chief. He then retired in Smith River, where he had begun a career with TSA.

Michael enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, who hand in hand stuck by his side for 28 years, Mila Araman McLennan;  daughter Elizabeth “Big Shot” McLennan, son Gunther “Boy” McLennan; sisters Rena Koke, Marlene Williams, Colleen Martin and Holly Williams; brothers Doug, Bill, Jim and Dennis; brothers-in-law Ed Martin and Chuck Williams; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth McLennan, father Kenneth McLennan, brother Gary McLennan and sister Myrna Fears.

Viewing will be held Friday, from noon to 5 p.m. at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wier’s, with interment to follow at Smith River District Cemetery.

A potluck reception will follow at the Smith River Community Hall. Everyone who knew and loved Michael is invited.
