Authorities have identified suspects in an altercation that sent two local men to the hospital with head injuries. The altercation reportedly erupted after Robert Davis Jr. refused to buy alcohol for a group of young men Saturday, authorities said. The young men allegedly broke a side-view mirror off Davis’ car before he left, sheriff’s Commander Bill Steven said. It carried over to Davis’ residence on Del Norte Street, where a group of males showed up, a fight ensued, and Davis Jr. was struck in the head with a hammer. Robert Davis Sr. was also struck in the head with an object, authorities said. Davis Jr. was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. He was not listed as being in the hospital Wednesday evening. Davis Sr. was treated and released from Sutter Coast Hospital and a third man refused medical attention. An investigation into the cause of the altercation is continuing, Steven said, adding the parties involved were familiar with each other.
