Pedestrian, 20, struck by vehicle in Klamath

A woman was in critical condition  Monday after being struck by a vehicle on  U.S. Highway 101 in Klamath on Sunday night.

Around 9:41 p.m., authorities received reports of a pedestrian running in the highway near Ehlers Avenue, according to a California Highway Patrol statement.

About four minutes later, prior to CHP officers’ arrival, witnesses called emergency dispatch to report the pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the same area, the statement said.

Authorities identified her as Heather Amos, 20. Her city of residence was not known as of Monday afternoon.

Amos was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital, then flown to Mercy Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon.

Lucinda Toste, 68, of Loleta, was driving the Toyota Corolla that struck Amos, the CHP said.
