Choir Camp registration extended

Registration for the third annual Summer Youth Choir Camp has been extended through June 20.

The camp is for students entering the fifth through ninth grades, and will be held 9 a.m. to noon weekdays from Monday, July 9, through Thursday, July 19.

This two-week, intensive vocal arts training camp is sponsored by the Del Norte High School Music Boosters. To sign up, call Dan Sedgwick at (805) 453-5871.

Activities at Harbor Gallery

Crescent Harbor Gallery’s artist of the month for June is Kathy Huxley, an oil painter from Brookings. A sampling of her work is currently on display, along with pieces by other gallery members.

Gasquet artist Rick Bennett will give a watercolor demonstration beginning at noon Thursday, June 28, preceded by a potluck. Bennett has worked in Del Norte County for well over half a century, and during that time taught art and art history to hundreds of high school and college students.

Courthouse exhibit continues

The Art in Public Places exhibit up in the Del Norte County Courthouse is a solo show of paintings by Crescent City artist Philip Wadsworth.

Summer Art Program starts June 23

A free Summer Recycled Art Program will begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 23 at the Del Norte County Library. Sponsored by Recology Del Norte and Julindra Recycling, the suggested age range for this program is 8–13.

The program will continue every other Thursday (July 7 and 21 and Aug. 8). For more information, call the library at 464-9793.

LRT melodrama opens June 27

Lighthouse Repertory Theatre’s summer melodrama, titled “Return, Back to the Melodrama, The Trilogy or The End of Time, Travel in 3.5D” and written and directed by Randy Mulinex, will have its opening performance at 6:30 p.m. June 27 in the United Methodist Church, 664 H St.

Additional 6:30 p.m. performances will be held June 28–30 and July 5–7. There will also be a special 3 p.m. show July 4. Tickets cost $6 at the door. For more information call, 465-4730.

Artists workshop Monday

Crescent Harbor Gallery presents a free workshop for artists on creating a portfolio/book of their artwork, to be held from noon to 4 p.m. Monday.

At that time, gallery member and web design specialist Jeri McDonald will take participants step by step through the process of creating a printer-friendly document of paintings, drawings, etc.

The only cost after creating such a portfolio online is printing, typically $30–50 from a printing company, or less from a “print on demand” machine. For more information call 464-9133. The gallery is located at 140 Marine Way in the harbor.
