David will return to Brigham Young University in Utah, where he had been attending on academic and marching band (trombone section) scholarships, and working on a mechanical engineering major, prior to his mission.
David is a 2008 graduate of Del Norte High School finishing with a 4.035 GPA, and was a four-year letterman and league White Star recipient on the varsity tennis team. He won a league singles championship title his senior and sophomore years and was in the league’s #1 finals match for doubles his senior year. He was also a two-year letterman on the varsity soccer team, the president of the Math Team, and very active in the music programs, singing in the Madrigal Choir that traveled to Austria and Germany and playing in all three bands (Marching, Jazz and the Steel Drum Band) at the high school. He holds the rank of Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts of America, as well.
David is the fourth son of Jim and Lori Standring, of Crescent City, to serve a two-year mission for the church.
