The Del Norte 9-10 Baseball All-Stars suffered their first defeat in the California District 26 Championship Wednesday night, but their season is still alive.

Del Norte fell to Eel River Little League of Fortuna, 11-0 in four innings, at the tournament game in Blue Lake.

“They kept us from getting anything going,” Del Norte coach Rich Goudelock said. “They just pitched really good. They hit the ball really hard and played good defense.”

Gabriel Provencio and Justin Goudelock each had a hit for Del Norte, which fell to 2-1 in tournament play.

Del Norte plays its fourth game in five days tonight at 5:30 p.m. against McKinleyville Little League in Blue Lake.

The winner goes on to face Eel River and must win two games to be declared champions. The loser will be eliminated from the tournament.

“We’re still in it. It’s not over,” Rich Goudelock said. “We’ll go down there and give them heck.”
