Obituary: Rita Rossini( July 15, 1924 – Aug. 9, 2012)

Rita Rossini passed away August 9, in Crescent City, at the age of 88. She was born July 15, 1924, in Smith River, to Micheal and Filomena Romanini.

She married Charles Rossini in 1947 and they began their life together in Crescent City where they raised their four children. In her early retail career, Rita worked at Daly’s department store prior to her and Charlie opening their Coast to Coast store in 1967. During their years in the hardware business she and Charlie made many friends and traveled to Hawaii, Antigua and Alaska, as well as many other destinations.

Rita and Charlie were a devoted couple, very involved in the community and lifelong members of St. Joseph’s Parish.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband Charlie, brothers Robert, Joe and Leo Romanini and her sister Norma Charley.

She is survived by her four children Carolyn Usrey, Kathleen Kosarek, Doris Mendez and Micheal Rossini, sister Doris Delashmutt. Rita is also survived by her six grandchildren Kristine, Kori, Dale, Spencer, Caren and Lisa, and six great-grandchildren Parker, Morgan, Landon, Alexa, Graysen and Mason, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090 or one’s favorite charity.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Family and friends are invited for fellowship following services in the Parish Hall.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
