Al and Betty Young celebrated 66 years of marriage recently at a barbecue held in their honor at the home of Darwin and Connie Luna. Three of their four children joined them, as well as five of their 11 grandchildren.

Al and Betty were married Aug. 29, 1952, just days before Al reported for duty at Fort Ord. After his tour of duty in Japan during the Korean War, they settled in Crescent City. Al worked for Fleure Bakery in Eureka, delivering bakery products throughout Del Norte and Curry counties for 36 years.

The couple have five great-grandchildren and have been members of the Church of Christ for more than 60 years.
