Obituary: Ethel Mae Blake (March 2, 1926 – Sept. 5, 2012)

 Ethel Mae Blake, born March 2, 1926, died September 5, 2012, was a lifelong resident of the Klamath. She worked and became owner-operator of Blake’s Terwer Valley Grocery Store in the Klamath Glen. She especially enjoyed being generous to the younger children who visited the store. Ethel thoroughly enjoyed the yearly Klamath tourist visits. Her hobbies included being a member of the pinochle club and meeting friends at Crivelli’s. Ethel felt fortunate to see many generations of Klamath families grow up.


She is survived by brother and sister, Richard Carl Blake, Crescent City, and Jeanette Blake Nesbitt, Montague; nieces and nephew, Cynthia Blake Williamson, Redding; Dorothea Nesbitt, Elk Grove; Richard Blake, Hoopa; Terri Blake Rivera, Kelseyville; Lori Nesbitt, Klamath; Dorothy Blake Fry, Yuba City; Patricia Nesbitt Youngdale, Clayton, and numerous grandnieces and nephews.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents Catherine and Warren Blake Sr., brothers Earl, Warren  Sly and Roy Blake.

A viewing will be held at Wier’s Mortuary on Monday, September 10, 2012, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Yurok Tribal building on Saturday, October 6, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
