The budget has landed.

On Tuesday, the Del Norte County Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed to appropriate $105 million for the 2012–13 fiscal year.

Balancing expenditures during a time of decreasing revenues was a particularly challenging equation for the jail and Sheriff’s Office this year.

Officer and technician layoffs approved at the last county meeting were rescinded. Instead, the gap will be filled with general fund dollars, employee concessions, anticipated revenue from contracts to jail inmates from Shasta and Tehama counties and a proposal to recoup fines from illegal pot growers to support sheriff’s operations.
