Soon to be hired: New DN baseball coach

A few months away from the spring sports season, Del Norte High School has yet to name a head baseball coach.

Warriors athletic director Bob Hadfield closed the position Dec. 4. He would not specify how many applications had been received, but the Triplicate has learned of at least two candidates being considered.

“It’s still available,” Hadfield said on Dec. 4. “We’ll screen applicants this week. There will be a decision (made) in the near future.”

Jared Wells told the Triplicate that he resigned after his only season atop the Del Norte program because of other obligations.

The Warriors finished with an 0-13 overall record (0-12 Humboldt-Del Norte Big 5 League) this past spring. Del Norte graduated just two players from its 14-man varsity roster; the school did not field a junior varsity team last year.
