Country singer Thomas Rhett will perform at Elk Valley Casino on Saturday, Feb. 9.

Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show, with tickets priced at $30. Call 464-1020 or go to elkvalleycasino.com.

Rhett, 22, has released an EP and two singles, “Something To Do With My Hands” and “Beer With Jesus,” both of which have reached top 15 on the country radio charts.

Hailing from Valdosta, Ga., music has been a part of  Rhett’s life for as long as he can remember. He grew up in a musical family watching father Rhett Akins work as an artist and a hit songwriter.

In high school, Thomas Rhett dabbled in songwriting and playing guitar before forming a band with some friends. In 2010, while still a student at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Thomas Rhett signed his first deal with EMI and shortly thereafter signed a record contract with The Valory Music Co.

He worked with producer Jay Joyce on his debut album, which is due out this year.

As a songwriter, Rhett has penned two Jason Aldean cuts, “I Ain’t Ready To Quit” and “1994.” Later in February he will join Aldean’s “Night Train Tour,” which will be the first-ever country concert to play Fenway Park in Boston.

Rhett has previously toured with Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and Brantley Gilbert, among others.

“I don’t have a clue where it’s going to go or where it’ll end up, but the journey is cool enough for me,” he mused recently. “I’m here for the ride and to entertain people.”

And entertain he does. The country guy with a distinct urban streak throws AC/DC hard-rock chants and Coolio hip-hop phrasing into songs that are otherwise country.

The casino is located at 2500 Howland Hill Road.
