Daniel Christopher Lopez, 95, passed away on January 25, 2013, in Crescent City. He was born on January 3, 1918, in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. Mr. Lopez was a 33-year resident of Del Norte County. A veteran, he served with the Marine Corps for two years. Prior to his retirement, Daniel was employed as an airline troubleshooter, a job he enjoyed. Daniel was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church and he loved going to the United Indian Health in Smith River for their Senior lunches. He also enjoyed trips to Reno and Vegas, reading, crossword puzzles and enjoyed watching pro boxing. Daniel was known as a quiet, nice and caring man who enjoyed family get-togethers and walking his dog.

Daniel is survived by his beloved wife Vera Lopez; daughter Karen and son-in-law Chuck Seward; sister-in-law Marian Lopez; nephews and nieces Laird and Wanda Lopez, Deanna and Rich Kahoalii, Kerri and Ken Lopez Johnston, Laurie and Dirk O’Reilley, Lance Lopez and Lindsey Reichlin and numerous other relatives.

Daniel was preceded in death by his siblings Paul Lopez, Chet Lopez, Richard Lopez and sons Philip and Carl.

Visitation will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, January 31, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Funeral Services will be at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel on Friday, February 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. with interment at Smith River District Cemetery in Smith River, Calif.
