A local woman was arrested outside of Walmart on Saturday after allegedly attempting to steal $610 worth of merchandise, authorities said.

Crescent City resident Sandra Maldonado, 38, left the store around 7 p.m. from a side door with a cartful of  pet supplies, electronics and other items when she was stopped by a security guard and placed under citizen’s arrest until authorities arrived, said sheriff’s Commander Bill Steven.

Authorities also found two baggies containing around .07 grams of a crystal substance that appeared to be methamphetamine, Steven said.

Maldonado was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and burglary.
