The Del Norte 4-H column appears every month. Today’s column was written by Jacki Bennett of Pine Grove 4-H.

March and April have been full of fun 4-H activities.

On March 30, we had our annual 4-H Easter Egg Hunt at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds.

Ashlee Hicks was the event chairperson and she did a wonderful job of getting the prizes, candy and organizing the committee members (K’Marie Magray, Derrick Hicks, Christopher Wallace, Donald Magray, Kearstyn Miller, Vivian Wells, Zoe McManus and Ayden McManus).

She had the Pine Grove 4-H GPS club members use GPS units to hide the prize eggs, just in case a prize egg was not found by a participant.

Over 25 4-H members and their families showed up to hunt for 35 prize eggs, over 500 candy eggs and to have some Easter fun.

Vivian Wells, Kearstyn Miller, Zoe McManus and K’Marie Magray attended Regional Presentation Day in Lake County on April 13.  Vivian Wells gave a presentation on “Recycling” (awarded blue seal), Kearstyn Miller gave a presentation on “Muscovy Ducks” (awarded gold seal), Zoe McManus gave a presentation on “Scrapbooking” (awarded gold seal) and K’Marie Magray gave a presentation on “How to Burn Goat Horns” (awarded gold seal).

Kearstyn Miller, Zoe McManus and K’Marie Magray all qualified to participate and will be attending the State 4-H Presentation Day on May 25 down at UC Davis to give their presentations one more time.

“Under the Tropical Sun” is this year’s theme for the 2013 4-H Fashion Revue. 4-H members who have sewed articles of clothing showed off their handiwork Saturday at the Addie Meedom House to an audience of family members and Addie Meedom residents.

With over 20 beautiful models and their delightful outfits, it was a very rousing event! Our Primary Members (ages 5-8) modeled their duct tape skirts, bowties and belts, which they designed and constructed mostly by themselves. The audience enjoyed the creativity and inspiration displayed by the participants.
