Three DN women have died this week

Authorities suspect a bad supply of methamphetamine or heroin could be the cause of the deaths of three local residents this week.

Among the victims:

• A 27-year-old woman who was found in her car parked in her Crescent City driveway Tuesday — she’d been dead about four days.

• A 32-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at Sutter Coast Hospital on Monday.

• A 59-year-old woman who was discovered at her house Thursday by a friend who was checking on her after not hearing from her for a couple of days.

“They’ve all died within about the same five-day period of this last weekend,” said Sheriff’s Commander Tim Athey.

Authorities are awaiting toxicology results on the three women that may provide more insight into the cause of the death and could identify any substances that were found, Athey said.

“It’s just coincidental right now, we have three known drug users who are dead,” said Athey.

The Sheriff’s Felony Investigations Unit is investigating whether the women are linked to the same drug dealer, Athey said.

“Our recommendation is people who use narcotics should cease immediately,” said Athey. “That’s the only advice we can offer.”
