Obituary: Paul F. Tedsen

Paul F. Tedsen passed away July 16, 2013, at the age of 92. 

Born in Ferndale, Calif., Paul spent his childhood in Langlois, Ore. The family moved to Del Norte County, where he worked on the family farm. He played basketball and graduated from Del Norte County High School. Paul married Irene Tomasini, his high school sweetheart, in December of 1943. He loved to play men’s league basketball and played into his late 30s. Paul joined the Navy during WWII and was stationed in Guam. Upon return from the service, he worked on the family farm until going into partnership with his brother Jack on the adjoining ranch that they purchased. For the next 33 years Tedsen Brothers Dairy would be his home and life, where he raised his three children. 

Paul liked fishing, boating, pheasant- and duck-hunting. Upon retirement, he and his wife enjoyed family, friends, traveling the world and RVing. They also enjoyed square dancing for many years. Paul was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Irene (Rena); daughters Donna Tedsen, Patsy Nettleton; and son Mike Tedsen and wife Linda; grandchildren Shawn Nettleton and wife Wendy, Jason Nettleton and wife Nicole, Jeff Nettleton and fiancé Colleen, and Michael Nettleton, Bryan Tedsen and wife Rani, and Tracy McCornack; great-grandchildren Tevon and Haley McCornack; Taren and Dru Tedsen; Emily, Katelyn, Mica, Rylan, and Cadyn Nettleton; brother Jack Tedsen and wife Marie; sisters Gretchen Smedley and husband Glen, Gertrude Zottola and husband Jerry; sister-in-law Phyllis Tedsen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The memorial services will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Crescent City.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Paul’s name.
