Hunter safety classes on tap

Hunting safety classes are more than just a good idea — they’re required by law in the state of California.

The California Department of Fish and Game is hosting hunter safety and education classes August 5–8 and August 10 at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds dining hall. Classes take place from 6 to 9 p.m. each of the five days.

A field test will also be conducted on Saturday, August 10, at Del Norte Rod and Gun Club, 1000 Rowdy Creek Road, Smith River.

Hunters are required to attend every class in order to receive a safety certificate, and all first-time California hunters and those interested in hunting in other states are required to attend the classes.
