Donna Lorene Rowland
Donna Lorene Rowland
As Donna Lorene Rowland had many friends in the Crescent City area, the family would like to share that, after a full life, she has passed from this earth and onto a better place. Born in Shelley, Idaho, to parents Emmett and Gladys Marie (Cousin) Murphy, she went on to marry and to raise three children: Sandra Pierotte of Hanford, Calif.; Terry Reynolds of Hornbrook, Calif., and Richard Reynolds of Texas. She later married Jack Rowland and together they owned and managed both Rowland’s restaurant and Hiouchi Café before retiring and enjoying winters in Quartzite, Ariz., and summers in Hiouchi.

Donna was a hard-working woman who took great care to know her customers as friends and treat everyone with great service. It may not be known to many, but if anyone came to her asking to work for food she generously fed them and made sure they had what they needed before they moved on. She could not stand the thought of anyone suffering from hunger. Donna was preceded in death by her husband Jack Rowland; her parents Emmett and Gladys; as well as three brothers: Darrel Dean Murphy, La Von Murphy and Sherman Murphy.

She is survived by her three children, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom she adored and spoke of often. She is also survived by her brother William Murphy of Union, Ore., and sister Bonnie Doyle of La Grande, Ore., who cared for her in her last days, as well as 11 nieces and nephews.

The family will miss her generous spirit, her twinkling eyes and her ever-willing phone conversations and visits as well as the memories she so often shared of those she met along her travels in life. There are no services planned at this time, but should anyone wish to make a contribution in Donna Rowland’s memory, the family would suggest a local food shelter of your choice.
