Juan Alvarado scored two goals and Jesus Herrera scored once as the Del Norte High boys soccer team defeated Illinois Valley 3-0 at home Tuesday evening.

Coach David Sanyaolu said he was especially pleased by his team’s crisp passing and its show of composure.

The result followed a 3-1 loss to Illinois Valley by the Warrior girls soccer team Tuesday.

In a road game earlier this season, the Del Norte boys defeated Illinois Valley by a score of 11-2. Herrera scored six goals; Alvarado scored three.

The Warrior girls lost their previous game at Illinois Valley, 4-1.

Results of the boys’ and girls’ Wednesday games at McKinleyville will be reported in the Saturday edition of the Triplicate.
