Ryan Lee Ellis-Sanderson passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, in Klamath. He and his companion Moonchay Dowd were fishing, and he drowned. Ryan was born in Crescent City on Nov. 28, 1978, to Rachel Sanderson and the late Dennie Sanderson.

Ryan loved hunting, fishing, beading and all things pertaining to the outdoors. He enjoyed his family and had a smile that lit up the room. Ryan was always available to help family members.

He had a strong work ethic and worked for the Yurok Tribe.

Ryan welcomed his family with his sweet smile and hugs.

Ryan is survived by his mother, Rachel Sanderson, and his lifetime fiancee companion, Moonchay Dowd. He left his beautiful children Ali, Tyesha, Kegan, step-children Cheyanne, Martin, Mia, Kella, Farah, Autumn and  Brody; step-father Dale Sanderson; his sister Carissa Ray (Bob) and their children Divina, Rylee, Kaiser and Rihanna; grandmothers Donna Sanderson of Crescent City and Maralou Ellis of Smith River; also, many Sanderson and Ellis family members, including cousins, friends and Debbie Earls of Crescent City. Ryan leaves many people who love him.

Visitation (wake) was held at the home of Moonchay Dowd.

Funeral services will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. with interment at the IOOF Memorial Cemetery.
