The Del Norte High girls soccer team couldn’t recover from a 2-0 halftime deficit in a windy home match against McKinleyville on Monday night, losing by the same score.

“We couldn’t convert on our scoring opportunities,” said coach Clar Byers. “I wasn’t satisfied with the performance. The girls could have played better, and they knew it.”

Still, the Warriors had more shots on goal, leading their opponent in that category by 6-1 in the second half.

Del Norte also lost at Ferndale last week by a score 5-2, after trailing 3-2 at the half.

Results of both the boys and girls Wednesday night soccer games at Eureka will appear in Saturday’s edition.
