Judy Vandelee Wangerin
Judy Vandelee Wangerin went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 13, 2014, with her loving family beside her. Judy was born in Grants Pass, Ore., on Oct. 25, 1948, to Joe and Etta Stow. She lived in the Illinois Valley and Grants Pass until moving to Crescent City in 1964.

Judy mothered three sons, Bryan Mode, Britton Mode and Jayson Mode, and took loving care of numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and cousins. Family was very important to Judy. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was a woman of great love, integrity and generosity. Judy had a deep and abiding faith with the Lord and joined the Cornerstone Church in 1971.

Judy supported her church family by serving as a Sunday School teacher, Treasurer, Women’s Ministries, and Sunday School Superintendent. Judy was a woman of absolute faith and loyalty. She never met a stranger in Del Norte County, so she made friends all over the world in her extensive travels. Judy’s sense of adventure took her throughout the United States, Europe, and Africa. Judy was a hard worker and worked for the school district as Director of Food Services. She recently retired after 33 years of great service to our schools.

Judy was preceded in death by husband Jim Wangerin, her son Bryan Mode, her grandson Azrail Mode, her parents Joe and Etta Stow, sister Nicki
Latimer/Payne, brother Ross Stow and her beloved nieces Janey Lynn and Amanda, and nephew Jeremiah.

She is survived by her loving sons Britton and wife Laura Mode (Brendon and Morgan Edwards) and Jayson Mode; lifelong best friend and sister Paula Holcomb; brother-in-law Doyle Holcomb; grandchildren Tayshia Mode and Mykah Mode, Silver Gensaw, Sky Mode, Brooklyn Mode and four new great-grandaughters: BryanLei, Kyah, Abigael, and PaeLynn.

Special thanks to Claudia Hanson, Nancy and Danny Darnell, Gidget Sutton and Kathy Ripp for all your love and support.
