Raymond Strength passed away Dec. 12, 2013, in Orange, Calif., from complications due to an epileptic seizure. He is survived by his parents, Vernon Strength of Klamath and Sandra Strength of Santa Monica, Calif., along with sister Adeline, brother Dana, niece Noelle and nephews Peyton, Eric and Peter, all of Durango, Colo. Ray also had a close bond with Rhonda Henry of Orange, Calif., and her son Brett (in photo with Ray above).

A computer whiz and scuba diver who loved to repair and soup up cars, Ray was diagnosed with epilepsy while a student at Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, Calif. Despite his health problems, he graduated with honors. After working as a commercial painter in Chico, Calif., for several years, Ray set his sights on a career in Family Counseling. He attended classes at Butte Community College and Chico State prior to completing his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks. At the time of his death he was nearing completion of a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling at National University in Orange County, California.

Ray was uniquely thoughtful, insightful, fun-loving and funny. He loved the North Coast and had many friends here. His death is a terrible loss to all who loved him.
