Fallen tree blocks 199 at Walker Rd.

U.S. Highway 199 was closed at Walker Road after a 4-foot-diameter tree blew over the roadway at approximately 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

Crews working on clear ing the roadway anticipated the work would continue past 8 p.m. Wedneday.

The closed section of Highway 199 can be detoured via Highway 197, North Bank Road. 

At around 5 p.m., a south wind was blowing at 31 mph with gusts up to 44 mph in Crescent City.

Blight cleanup at cemetery on 15th

Volunteers are needed for cleanup efforts of the Independent Order of the Oddfellows Cemetery on Saturday, March 15.

Organized by the Take a Bite Out of Blight, Operation Del Norte Cleanup and Our Daily Bread Ministries, the event will start at 10 a.m. at the cemetery off Cooper Street, behind Home Depot.

A story in Tuesday’s Triplicate incorrectly stated the event would take place this Saturday.
