Boys golf opener delayed by rain 

The Del Norte High boys golf team had its season opener at the Redwood Empire Golf & Country Club in Fortuna canceled due to rain.

The golf team will now open its season at the Bandon Dunes Golf Course in a two-day tournament Monday and Teusday.

Girls basketball shown on DNTV

The Del Norte girls basketball team will be featured on “Warrior Sports with Donnie Mattz” this week. 

The Warriors game against Eureka will be shown nightly at 7:30 p.m. for the rest of the week.

Last chance to sign up for Babe Ruth

Players’ last chance to sign up for the Del Norte Babe Ruth league is scheduled for March 15-16 at the Peterson Park snack bar located at 525 7th St.

Players must be between the ages of 13 and 15 by July 31, 2014, to qualify. The snack bar will be open for signups from 5:30-7 p.m. 

Parents of first-time players will need to bring a certified copy of their child’s birth certificate. 

Returning players must still sign up again this year but do not need a birth certificate. 

There is a $75 registration fee for all players.

All Comers Swim Meet on March 16

The Second Annual All Comers Swim Meet will be held at the Fred Endert Pool on March 16. The meet is hosted by the Crescent City Swim Club and the Wild Rivers Coast Masters as a fundraiser.  

The meet invites any and all members from the comminity interested in swimming or just watching to come out.

Registration will open at 9:15 a.m. and close at 10 a.m. Cost for the event is $5 for children under 18 and $10 for adults. 

Warmups begin at 10 a.m. with the events running from 10:40 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Swimmers may swim three individual events and two relays.

“This event is intended to be a fun, community swim event where swimmers can gain some experience in a very mildly competitive spirit,” the clubs said in a press release. “All interested community members are encouraged to come to the pool and participate or simply to watch your neighbors, both young amd old, having a good time participating in a healthy activity.”

The event will also be selling tickets for a “Chance to Win” prize of a 30 minute helicopter ride provided by Dan Brattain at Cal-Ore Life flight. For additional information, call Dan Gray at 541-890-5483.
