DNHS actors perform new take on classics

What happens when a group of teenagers try to bring meaning and relevance to some of our best-loved literary classics?

You have Del Norte High School’s latest production, “Crumpled Classics,” by playwright Craig Sodaro.

On Friday and Saturday nights, you can watch as the teens twist the plots, but stay true to the truth, in such classics as “Romeo and Juliet,” “Frankenstein,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Sherlock Holmes” and “The Legend of King Arthur.”

The cast includes seniors Joy Rodriguez, Breanna Banks, Jacob Gutierrez, Kira Morse, Emma Stevenson, Michelle Wells, Guillermo Espinoza, Brendon Welch and Caleb Green.

Other cast members include Arielle Fuller, Marcos Steffen, River Hernandez, Matt Klinger, Walker True-Silver,  Beth Hall, Violet Levitt, India Shira and James Burgess. 

Techies include Robert Josey (lights), Nathan Quine and Dominic Evert (sound).

The performances will be Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. on the Del Norte High School Multi-Purpose Room Stage. Cost is: Adults, $8; children and seniors, $5. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
