The Del Norte boys tennis team finally got back on the court on Tuesday after having matches against Eureka and St. Bernard’s canceled or postponed last week.

The Warriors struggled against North Coast Prep, the Humboldt-Del Norte league leaders, falling 9-0 at Del Norte.

Although the Warriors lost all nine matches, Cameron Douglas was able to win a set in No. 2 singles against NCP’s Jesse Mackinney. Douglas won the first game 6-4 before falling 4-6 and 2-6 in the final two sets.

Del Norte was able to win at least one game in eight of the nine matches.

The Warriors also had a new face playing No. 6 singles in Parker Dantzman. Dantzman, who is also a member of the track team, decided to join tennis late this year, helping the team with some depth issues this season.

Dantzman fell 3-8 in a pro-set in his first tennis match for Del Norte.

The Warriors are scheduled to travel to Arcata on Saturday for their next match.  Del Norte still needs to set up two make-up matches against Eureka before the start of postseason play on April 12, but nothing has been scheduled yet.
