Obituary: Dewayne Lee Charley (Nov. 24, 1946 – April 16, 2014)

 Born November 24, 1946, died April 16, 2014. Dewayne died from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He lived his entire life in Del Norte County, graduating with the class of 1964. In his younger years, Dewayne was the lead singer of his band, “The One Way’s.” Prior to his retirement, he worked 11 years in security at Elk Valley Casino.

Dewayne loved his family and life. He loved to play and watch baseball, and walks on the beach looking for agates.

Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Ruby, and his nephew, Matt.

Survivors are his wife Kathy, sons Chris and Neal, daughter Teah (Patrick) all from Crescent City, son Treay (Katrina) and their two children from Medford, sister Susan (Jerry) from Burney and sister-in-law Sandra from Willow Creek. Dewayne leaves numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A viewing will be held on Monday, April 21, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.
