Authorities arrested a Smith River woman at 2:30 p.m. Thursday after she led police on a car chase from Brookings to the Lucky 7 Casino.

Sandra Tetzoborne, 47, was driving a black Mitzubishi Eclipse on Chetco Avenue when she was pulled over by Brookings police officer Travis Wright for a minor traffic violation. Before the officer could make contact with Tetzoborne, she sped off in the car south on Highway 101, according to Officer Terry Murray.

Wright, joined by another Brookings police officer and several Curry County Sheriff’s deputies, pursued the Mitzubishi at moderate speeds for about 10 miles until Tetzoborne pulled into the Shell gas station next to the casino. The officers used their patrol cars to box in her car. Tetzoborne refused to exit the car, so an officer broke the driver side window, unlocked the door and took her into custody, Murray said.

“We don’t know why she did what she did,” Murray said. “It could be mental issues or drug-related.”

Tetzoborne was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol patrol car and transported Sutter Coast Hospital for a mental evaltuation.  No charges were filed according to the California Highway Partol.

Tetzoborne was evaluated and discharged on Friday.
