Mixed media collage workshop

Guest instructor Linda Mulvaney, an art therapist currently teaching at Southwestern Oregon Community College, is offering mixed media collage workshops from 3–6 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at Open Studio Arts in Fort Dick. This class is for artists and non-artists alike; rich and varied collage items in two and three dimensions will be provided.

Mural society logo contest 

The Redwood Mural Society is offering a $100 cash prize in its logo design contest. The design should be a simple, original design that visually reflects the RMS slogan “Big Trees, Big Fish, Big Art,” and which also incorporates these words.

Ashland Getaway raffle tickets

DNACA is sponsoring an end-of-the fiscal year “Ashland Getaway” drawing, to help try to balance its budget. 

Tickets are only $10 each and need to be purchased by Monday from DNACA board members, at Del Norte Office Supply, or by calling the DNACA office at 464-1336.  

The first name drawn will receive an entire “Ashland Getaway” package, which includes two tickets to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, $145 from bedandbreakfast.com, $100 in gas cards, a $20 Starbucks gift certificate and two beer tasting trays.  Second name drawn wins an overnight stay for two at the Howonquet Lodge in Smith River.  

The drawing will be held July 3; one need not be present to win. 

  

Harbor Gallery’s June activities 

Gasquet artist Louise Johnson is Crescent Harbor Gallery’s artist of the month for June. A self-taught artist, Johnson works in acrylic, oil, stained glass and creates decorative screens and decorative finishes on furniture and walls. A sampling of her work is currently on display along with pieces by other gallery members.  

The demonstration artist in June is Jeanne Warren, a wildlife artist who will demonstrate painting on canvas at noon today, preceded by a potluck at 11:30 a.m.

The gallery is gearing up for its annual Fourth of July Art & Craft Show, to be held July 3–4 in the Crescent City Cultural Center. Artists and craftspeople interested in renting booth space for this two-day fair should call Bunny Phillips at 487-2039.
